Larry Smith is seasoned and experienced in retail, healthcare, and all aspects of the wholesale financing business including the credit card industry, asset-based lending, and banking industry.
Larry was an employee for 19 years at The Home Depot, the world's largest home improvement retailer and second largest retailer in the United States. For the first 17 years at The Home Depot, Mr. Smith served as the company's General Counsel and from 2000-2002 he served as Senior Vice President-Executive Services.
In 2004, Larry's next venture was as a founder and chairman of GreenSky Financial. GreenSky offers credit card and credit facilities in business-to-business and business-to- consumer transactions. It is now the first private company selected to offer loans to Home Depot's installed sales programs. In addition, the program has now been rolled out to sales inside every U.S. Home Depot store, offering credit to purchasers of flooring, appliances, millwork and kitchens.
Recently, he has been consulting with the country's largest Podiatrist group; providing advice on creating a national platform and expanding their ancillary services.
Larry Smith is an active member of the community and serves as a Board of Trustee at The Marcus Foundation, which focuses on Jewish causes, children, medical research, free enterprise and the community. He has served on the Board of Trustees of the Devereux Foundation, and is past chairman of the Devereux Georgia Advisory Board. Devereux provides services for over 15,000 people with emotional, developmental and educational disabilities in the facilities located in eleven states. He is a board member of IFF, an organization funding pediatric brain cancer research. He helped assisted in the launch and is involved in the Atlanta Jewish Gene Screen, a marketing campaign directed to doctors, rabbis and Jewish couples advising prenatal testing for 19 diseases.
Larry Smith is a 1969 graduate of the University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, CT and received his law degree from Brooklyn Law School, Brooklyn, NY in 1975.
